There are many processors available in the market. However, we should consider something while purchasing. When you’re buying a Computer/Laptop, building it from scratch, or upgrading your CPU, you must take some time and thought into which processor to buy. The choice of your processor today will affect your computer’s speed and functionality for years to come.
Types:
There are two major manufacturers of computer microprocessors. Intel and AMD(Advanced Micro Device) are lead the market with speed and quality of the processor. Intel desktop CPU’s contains Intel® Pentium® series, Intel® Core Processor series, Intel® Xeon® Processor series, Intel® Quad Processor Series, Intel® Celeron® Processor and Mobile Processors. AMD’s desktop contains Sempron, Athlon and Phenom. AMD also makes mobile processor of its Sempron and Athlon and Turion mobile processor. Each Manufacturers makes both single and multi-core processors.
Features:
Both Processor has clock speed measured in GHz(Gigahertz). CPU has two or three levels of cache. Cache is a buffer/temporary memory between RAM and Processor. The socket type of the processor determines which motherboard it will be support.
